Hey dancing queen, this is for you! After the “I do’s” are said and kisses are exchanged, it’s time to bust it on the dance floor. 

The wedding celebration is the time for you, the bride, to shine. If you plan on wearing your gown the whole night through, we’ve gathered some of the best dress styles for easier movin’ and groovin’. 

Room to Wiggle

If you want to get low on the dance floor, tight gowns are probably not the best idea. Mermaid and trumpet styles may show off those sexy curves at the altar, but make it very hard to let loose on the dance floor. 

If you find yourself in something tight, look for styles that offer a back or side slit for a little added room to boogie. For those dedicated to the dance, aim for flowing dresses like the flirty A-line or glamorous ball gown. 

Light as a Feather

You want a fabric that will help you float across that dance floor. Lightweight fabrics such as chiffon, crepe, and charmeuse gently wrap your skin, making it easy for you to move in any direction. 

These lightweight fabrics are also good if you plan on spontaneously running into the ocean at your beach wedding, or diving into the local fountain. 

Avoid heavier fabrics if you plan to party in your wedding gown. For example, silk mikado and gabardine are exceptionally elegant but not as breathable if you like to dance. Heavier fabrics produce heat, so though they may be great for a winter wedding, they might make you feel sweaty or uncomfortable while dancing. 

Bustle Over Train

Long trains are gorgeous down the aisle but can turn into a train wreck at the after-party. Luckily there is a fix that allows you to have the best of both worlds. 

Fulfill your dream of a streaming train by opting for a bustle. A bustle is a ribbon or button system that lifts your train, allowing for easier movement. Each bustle system is different per dress, so make sure to inquire with your stylist if this is something you're interested in.
